Renowned back-end swing doors get a makeover

THE supplier of a wide range of world-class quality door and loading dock solutions, Maxiflex, has given its renowned, in-house designed and developed Atmodoor a makeover.
“In keeping with our drive for continuous innovation and improvement, we decided that it was time to give our popular and long-selling Atmodoor, also referred to as an impact, traffic, or swing door, an upgrade,” states the national operations manager at Maxiflex, Jacques Snyman.

“The Covid-19 pandemic presented the perfect opportunity to do our homework. Investing in extensive R&D as well as in feedback from our valuable customers, we implemented a number of improvements.

“We focused the upgrade mainly on the door hinges and fitted a new innovative and rugged double-action swing hinge with a stainless steel pin. Although this is a back-end door, we also wanted to address aesthetics. The new-generation door now boasts a more modern look combined with a softer, less industrial appearance. We have essentially taken the tried, tested and proven Atmodoor and made it even better.”

Available in single and double versions, the impact door’s double swing action to 90° facilitates trolley and pedestrian traffic. Staff can push the doors open with trolleys or by using their elbows in an easy hands-free motion; the doors will simply swing open and close behind them. This function also has a positive impact on the environment by helping to keep interior temperatures constant, subsequently reducing energy consumption.

Atmodoor is widely used in the food, retail and hospitality industries including supermarkets, butcheries, hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, laundries, processing plants and industrial kitchens. The impact door creates an effective barrier that separates supermarket shop floors from storage and/or butchery areas, restaurant kitchens from the diners, shopping mall back-end sections from general public areas or basically any restricted areas that require privacy.

Manufactured from solid HDPE (high-density polyethylene) material, the rugged 15mm thick doors handle high traffic areas with ease. Optional stainless steel kick plates help to protect the doors from trolley impact, further extending longevity. The doors can be used in environments with temperatures ranging from -30° to 60° C.

With a wide selection of optional extras to choose from, customers can customise their door solutions to meet their specific application requirements. Extras include stainless steel push plates, handles and frames, bumpers and finger pinches. The doors are supplied with standard sized 15mm thick windows but can also be fitted with smaller windows for enhanced privacy. Atmodoor is available in modern light grey which is a neutral colour that blends easily into any interior.

The doors can be cleaned with high-pressure washers which is important in hygiene-sensitive areas. The new Atmodoor also has fewer moving parts thereby ensuring little to no maintenance and a long service life. The doors are supplied with two easy-mount plates and are extremely easy to install by Maxiflex’s experienced team of technicians. “ Atmodoor is a truly fit-and-forget solution,” notes Snyman.

Atmodoor is available only from Maxiflex which considers service excellence to be just as important as product quality. “Our team of highly experienced technicians based at our Johannesburg head office and strategic Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban branches, support customers across southern Africa with installation and fitment as well as parts supply, maintenance and repairs,” concludes Snyman.

Maxiflex is one of South Africa’s foremost suppliers of high-quality industrial interior and exterior entrance solutions. In addition to impact doors, the family-owned business has, since its founding in 1990, been successfully manufacturing and supplying other in-house products including PVC strip curtains and protection screens which has earned the Maxiflex brand a coveted reputation for quality and reliability. Maxiflex has also significantly expanded its product portfolio through several sole distributorships including ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems and Teckentrup Door Solutions.
