New SA-built breathing air dryers

Home Engineering Pumps, Valves, Hydraulics, Pneumatics New SA-built breathing air dryers

A new range of low dew point breathing air dryers is now available from Artic Driers International. The capacities range from 3 to 40 m³/min @ 7 bar.

The SA Range of dryers provides -40⁰C PDP compressed air with great design features. These include two simple rugged patented shuttle valves and reliable air-powered angle seat valves.

The conservative design incorporates long contact times, large desiccant beds with low velocities. This ensures the attainment of the target of -40⁰C dew point quite easily.

The control panel has the facility to incorporate a dew point probe for performance display. In periods of light compressed air load, the dew point probe can extend the timing cycles to reduce the expensive compressed air purge wastage.

Built locally in Johannesburg, these low dew point, heatless twin tower desiccant air dryers are either ex stock from Artic Driers, or they are available on short lead times.

Allen Cockfield, CEO of Artic Driers International said the range had been in development for a few years, but the COVID-19 pandemic had accelerated the launch programme.

“Fully compliant with SANS 347 vessel codes, these dryers have the facility to be shipped on their ‘backs’ with no possible damage to the dryer. This makes transport into local SADC countries easy and safe. It ensures the dryers arrive in great shape with no road freight damage,” he said.

The SA Series range is sold with two high performance inline compressed air filters as well as an activated carbon filter casing that contains the long life carbon canister. The air quality that these, along with the air dryer provides, exceeds SABS 7396 Medical Air specification by a large margin.   Gas content & oil / partial contaminants monitoring / filtration is not included within this standard  specification. However, these monitors are available on request.

“For air flows ≤ 3m³/min the HDD series of air dryers is offered; these dryers are cost-effective, compact and proven performers,” Cockfield said.
