Municipality issues call to assist with roads

Home Infrastructure Construction & Civils Municipality issues call to assist with roads

KOUGA Municipality is turning to a “whole of society” approach as a strategy to effectively address numerous road infrastructure challenges, attributed to the age of the existing infrastructure and the method of construction in the 1970s. Vast and rapid population growth in Kouga and adverse weather conditions add to stresses on the roads in the region.

With the “Help Rescue Kouga’s Road” campaign, the municipality is inviting road engineers and road contractors to help rescue the region’s roads.

“As a municipality, we recognise the pivotal role various stakeholders – including the business sector, private sector, community-based organisations, and individuals – can play in finding achievable and lasting solutions to the problem that affects all of us,” said Kouga executive mayor, Hattingh Bornman.

“We acknowledge that to truly achieve progress, we all need to take hands and work together as a broader cross-section of society.”

The municipality is establishing an official stakeholder platform for interested parties to engage in an ongoing strategy and a meeting is scheduled to be held in Jeffreys Bay on September 12, 2023.
