Impofu Wind Farm project a major move for renewables into the C&I market

THE Impofu Wind Farm project makes Enel Green Power one of the first renewable energy companies to conclude a set of large-scale wind Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in South Africa for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) market.

The Impofu Wind Farm project is made up of three wind farms – Impofu East, Impofu West and Impofu North – and is located in Humansdorp. The project follows the conclusion of three long-term PPAs with Air Liquide Large Industries South Africa and Sasol South Africa to supply 330 MW of renewable energy via a wheeling framework agreement to Sasol’s Secunda site, where Air Liquide operates the world’s largest oxygen production facility.

Once completed, the project will consist of 57 wind turbines, 8 substations and 130 km of 132 kV high-voltage overhead electricity lines.
