Expanded lubricant range meets the demands of modern petrol engines

AS vehicle manufacturers improve engine efficiency through turbocharging, direct fuel injection and tighter emissions controls, the role of engine oil has evolved significantly. Modern lubricants are no longer simply designed to reduce wear. They are engineered to improve fuel economy, protect sophisticated emissions systems and address challenges such as Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) in today’s high-performance petrol engines.

Recognising these changing requirements, Fuchs Lubricants South Africa has expanded its passenger vehicle lubricant portfolio by introducing Titan Syn SP SAE 0W-20 and Titan Syn SP-T SAE 10W-30, giving South African workshops and motorists access to lubricant technology developed for the latest generation of petrol engines.

Engine protection for today’s vehicles

With more Asian passenger vehicles entering the South African market, workshops and motorists are increasingly looking for lubricants that meet the latest international specifications while delivering dependable performance under local driving conditions.
Titan SYN SP SAE 0W-20 is formulated to meet the latest API SP Resource Conserving (RC) and ILSAC GF-6A specifications.

Designed for naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines, it provides excellent wear protection, promotes easier cold starts and reduces internal engine friction to help improve fuel efficiency. The advanced formulation also helps minimise sludge formation and reduce oil consumption, supporting long-term engine reliability.

Complementing the range is Titan SYN SP-T SAE 10W-30, developed for motorists and workshops seeking the latest engine oil technology with broad vehicle compatibility. Meeting the newest API SQ RC and ILSAC GF-7A performance standards, it delivers enhanced protection against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI), a critical consideration for many modern turbocharged petrol engines. Its reduced SAPS formulation also helps protect exhaust after-treatment systems, contributing to improved emissions system durability throughout the oil’s service life.

“Vehicle technology is evolving at a rapid pace, and the lubricants used to protect those engines must evolve with it,” says Andrew Cowling, sales director at Fuchs Lubrications South Africa.

“Today’s workshops are servicing increasingly sophisticated petrol engines that demand the latest API and ILSAC performance standards. By expanding our Titan SYN range, we’re giving our customers access to globally developed lubricant technology that delivers the protection, efficiency and confidence needed to service their passenger vehicles.”
