NAAMSA congratulated manufacturing member, Benteler, on commissioning a 9,000 sqm plant expansion and the introduction of a new hot forming line at its plant in Kariega. Plant manager Cleber Rossini explains how the expansion supports Benteler’s “Local for Local” approach: “With the plant expansion, we are strengthening our presence with our local customers and making a significant contribution to the sustainable growth of our company. At the same time, we are supporting the local economy through this investment, underlining our commitment to the region.”

The investment is also part of the company’s promise to its customers, which is that wherever the customers are, Benteler will be there too – giving them geographic and strategic support.

Naacam executive director Renai Moothilal applauded Benteler on its significant investment, commenting: “This expansion is a significant showing of what automotive component manufacturing brings to South Africa, not only in terms of the investment itself but also the associated onshoring of technologies, skills development, and employment creation. It is investments like these that will enable the domestic automotive sector to meet the objectives of the SA Automotive Masterplan 2035.”
